ELECTIONS CANADA FREE RESOURCE AND IN-CLASS SUPPORTS FOR TEACHERS THROUGH & PILOT PROJECT FOR GTA TEACHERS
Helping teachers access resources and tools for learning, teaching and engaging students in federal elections and democracy has been made simpler through electionsanddemoncracy.ca. This website offers teachers access to free teaching resources, lesson plans as well as in-class supports. Resources are available for Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Content provided is completely non-partisan, bilingual and written in plain language. The activities can all be used as-is with complete step-by-step lesson plans, or adapted to suit learners needs. Lessons are designed for a range of subject areas from History and Geography to numeracy and literacy. All of the resources can be viewed at electionsanddemocracy.ca and either downloaded or ordered as physical kits that will ship to your school for free (delivery may be affected by the school closures).
A unique pilot project initiative of Elections Canada is available exclusively to teachers working in the GTA during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school year.
