ELECTIONS CANADA FREE RESOURCE AND IN-CLASS SUPPORTS FOR TEACHERS THROUGH & PILOT PROJECT FOR GTA TEACHERS
Helping teachers access resources and tools for learning, teaching and engaging students in federal elections and democracy has been made simpler through electionsanddemoncracy.ca. This website offers teachers access to free teaching resources, lesson plans as well as in-class supports. Resources are available for Kindergarten to Grade 12.
OECTA’s Professional Development Department, in partnership with Elections Canada, presents the WebExperience: Democracy & Elections Series. Beginning April 16, 2020, seven (7) different WebExperiences will be available, specially designed for Intermediate and Senior level teachers in a broad spectrum of subject areas.
These online, inquiry based, interactive sessions will take teachers on a tour of the free resources available through Elections Canada
Each live session will take place between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Registration is not required, however space is limited to 25 participants per session. All sessions will be recorded and posted to the provincial website for future on-demand viewing.
