Dufferin-Peel (OECTA) Elementary Unit and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board Ratify New Collective Agreement –

The Dufferin-Peel (OECTA) Elementary Unit ratified its local terms on December 18th, 2015 with 96% in favour. This ratification vote came 13 weeks following the provincial ratification of the central terms. Effective January 5, 2016 Dufferin-Peel (OECTA) Elementary and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board have a new collective agreement. The three year agreement, is the first agreement under Bill 122, School Boards Collective Bargaining Act, 2014, for our members, resulting in a collective agreement consisting of two components, the central and local terms.

The Dufferin-Peel (OECTA) Elementary Unit Collective Bargaining Committee comprised of Tom Doyle, Chief Negotiator, Rose Procopio, Committee Chairperson, Belinda Russo, Lori McCannel, Carlo DiCarlo and Mario Zarkovic worked extensivley in preparation for local negotiations. The team worked tirelessly to ensure that the priorities of the Unit’s more than 3000 were addressed. The local terms address the elimination of the existing Attendance Support Program, revisions to the Transfer and Posting Policy, Grade Preference Forms, Part-time/Full-time status, Teacher-in-Charge, and a number of other items. The local Unit President Rose Procopio indicated, she is very proud of the hard work of the Collective Bargaining Committee and is pleased with the overwhelming support of the membership throughout the bargaining process.
