PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT FOR MEMBERS

As the 2020-2021 school year unfolds, and the education landscape continues to shift, the OECTA Provincial Professional Development department is mindful of the pressures placed upon members. They are striving to be responsive to the diverse needs of members and continue to offer differentiated professional development opportunities. Below are some of OECTA Provincial’s professional leaning resources available to support teachers.

Faith & Wellness

A new Faith & Wellness section has been added to the provincial website that contains OECTA’s co-developed Faith & Wellness: A Daily Mental Health Resource as well as links to additional high quality mental health and wellness supports developed by School Mental Health Ontario. These new resources can be found here

WebExperiences

Currently OECTA maintains a repository of more than 100 recorded WebExperience sessions across a vast number of content and subject areas, including remote learning. For a complete list of recordings visit, https://www.catholicteachers.ca/Members-Area/WebExperiences. Additional live sessions will be scheduled throughout the 2020-2021 school year. Stay connected to the provincial website to view new offerings. Registration is required and space is limited.

Office Hours & Office Hours LIVE

OECTA’s Office Hours LIVE are an opportunity for all teachers, to connect online, ask questions and get advice about topics that matter most to them. Live sessions will be scheduled for a maximum of 1.5 hours and will provide participants with the opportunity to ask questions about practice and pedagogy, get advice, share teaching tips and network with other teachers. Participants are welcome to connect for a short time or stay for the entire conversation. Each live online session will be hosted by an experienced teacher leader and will be supplemented with a pre-recorded presentation. Participants are encouraged to view the pre-recorded presentation in advance of the live session. Stay connected to the provincial website to view new offerings. Registration is required and space is limited.
